Sweeting Performance is a third-generation, family-owned engineering company specializing in high-performance power brake systems, including Bosch Hydro-Boost®, Bosch Hydro-Max®, Bosch iBooster®, electric-hydraulic master cylinders, vacuum brake boosters, and proprietary air-hydraulic brake systems. We design, rebuild, retrofit, source, and manufacture brake components for classic cars, muscle cars, hot rods, diesel trucks, medium-duty commercial vehicles, specialty off-road vehicles, and low-volume manufacturers. Sweeting Performance also owns and operates Power Brake Service, originally founded in 1950, and manages both www.powerbrakeservice.net and sweetingperformance.com.
Our history begins with George Sweeting, a Lockheed engineer during World War II who helped design aircraft brake systems. In 1950, he founded Power Brake Service as a brake rebuilding and engineering shop focused on quality, precision, and safety. His son, Bob Sweeting, expanded the business into a nationally recognized source for rebuilt brake boosters, master cylinders, and specialty brake systems. Today, Matthew Sweeting leads the company as the third generation, applying decades of hands-on experience to modern hydraulic brake engineering, Hydro-Boost® retrofits, Hydro-Max® replacements, electric-hydraulic conversions, and custom brake solutions for vehicles where factory parts are obsolete or unavailable.
We are widely known for our expertise in Bosch Hydro-Boost® brake boosters, used in applications ranging from sports cars and muscle cars to Ford F350, GM 3500, and Ram heavy-duty trucks. Hydro-Boost® systems provide significantly higher brake line pressure than traditional vacuum boosters and are ideal for diesel engines, large camshaft engines, supercharged vehicles, and performance builds where manifold vacuum is insufficient. We supply direct replacement Hydro-Boost® units, custom retrofit kits, stainless braided PTFE hose kits, -6 AN adapter fittings, and master cylinder combinations engineered for proper bore size, pedal feel, pressure, and fluid volume. Our goal is not simply to “add boost,” but to engineer a complete braking system that works correctly and safely.
In addition to Hydro-Boost®, we specialize in Bosch Hydro-Max® systems for medium-duty trucks, commercial chassis, buses, tow trucks, and specialty vehicles including Freightliner, GM Topkick and Kodiak, International, Blue Bird, Thomas Built Bus, and other hydraulic brake platforms. We stock original Hydro-Max® components, electric motors, master cylinders, and service parts often labeled obsolete by manufacturers. Where factory support has ended, we engineer practical replacement and retrofit solutions to keep vehicles safely operational. We also support electric-hydraulic brake master cylinders from brands such as ACDelco, Aisin, Advics, Teves (ATE), and TRW, offering solutions when accumulators, pumps, switches, or complete assemblies are no longer available.
Sweeting Performance provides complete brake system solutions including Wilwood calipers and discs, performance master cylinders, vacuum boosters, air-hydraulic boosters, custom pedal ratio solutions, and hydraulic plumbing. We manufacture and supply stainless braided power steering hoses, crimped banjo fittings, reusable AN hose ends, metric-to-AN adapters, and specialty fittings required for complex retrofit installations. Whether supporting a Buick Grand National Powermaster system, a Land Rover Defender Hydro-Boost® conversion, a classic Cadillac electric brake setup, or a custom muscle car build, our engineering approach prioritizes correct hydraulic balance, safe braking performance, and long-term reliability.
Unlike volume-driven parts resellers, our focus has always been engineering quality over lowest cost. Modern brake systems are increasingly complex, incorporating computers, pressure sensors, electric motors, ABS integration, and accumulator systems. We work on lower-volume, higher-complexity brake platforms where experience matters. Our customers include restoration specialists, performance builders, off-road fabricators, fleet operators, and small vehicle manufacturers who require expert guidance and dependable solutions. Sweeting Performance stands for engineering integrity, brake system expertise, and multi-generational knowledge in power brake design and retrofit systems.
For over seventy years under the Sweeting name, our business has centered on safe, effective, and properly engineered brake systems. When customers search for Hydro-Boost® upgrades, Hydro-Max® replacements, electric-hydraulic master cylinders, or performance brake retrofits, they find Sweeting Performance because we specialize exclusively in brake engineering. Our name is associated with Bosch brake systems, high-performance hydraulic solutions, retrofit brake kits, and expert support for vehicles others consider unsupported. We remain committed to advancing brake technology while preserving the craftsmanship and standards established in 1950.
